South Georgia Home - Pearle's House

A quiet South Georgia town is the backdrop for a saga full of young love and tragic death. Pearle's story is easily as dramatic as anything created in the minds of the great story tellers. Here we find the greatest tragedy isn’t in the story itself. It is, however, found when we step back and look at those lives cut short before they really had the opportunity to begin. This beautiful home, built in 1903, was the sight of a family tragedy 7 years later when a kerosine lamp explosion claimed the life of their 16 year old daughter.  Now, 95 years later, a new family calls the home their own, yet they report that some of the previous residents may have refused to leave.  The family contacted us after several strange occurrences forced them to find out once and for all if the home is, in fact, haunted.  The activity included items being hidden, doors slamming, wine glasses being moved, loud crashes on different floors and something or someone waking up several of the children late in the night.

Investigation Report

Historic Ghost Watch and Investigation Pearle’s House Date of Investigation: June 11, 2005 Team 1- David, Michele, Ben Team 2- Laurie, Tim, Ed Base- Kevin, Ben (Ben was added later to assist) Video Team- Kevin, Tim   Investigation Findings- Base- Kevin heard the sound of 2 "door slams" from the kitchen area. Room 1- Team 2 recorded an EMF reading in front of the sofa and in front of the wing chair by the fireplace. Michele felt a light touch on the right side of her head and heard a voice say "I don't wanna die". Kevin and Tim reported an "odd" feeling and both of them reported a "pop" noise in this room. Both of them thought the sound came from the other person's location. Kevin & Tim reported having "bad chills" and Kevin reported seeing a figure standing in the doorway. Room 2- Kevin and Tim smelled "roses" as they were coming down the stairs. At the same time, another team at the bottom of the stairs was investigating a "rose" odor. Room 3- Team 2 recorded an EMF reading at the couch and the piano. Michele sensed a feeling of restlessness between the parlor and the dining room. Room 4- Team 2 got an EMF reading at the fireplace and at the humidor. They also got readings at the end of the dining room table closest to the hallway. Team 2 heard a "popping" noise by the china cabinet. Michele felt a feeling of apprehension and anxiety in this room and Tim felt a cold chill in this room. Room 6- Team 2 got an EMF reading at the pantry on the left side of the room. Pantry door was found open and a "male" whisper was heard from the den or foyer area. Room 7- Tim felt a cold spot by the end of the kitchen counter. This was verified by Laurie who also felt the cold spot. Team 2 tried to locate the source of the cold spot. While a vent was found in this room, it was blowing in another direction. Room 9- Tim heard the "tinkling" of a small bell outside the office. Time heard footsteps coming from the dining room area. Team 2 recorded EMF readings in the area of the footsteps. Room 10- A cabinet door opened beside Tim. No one was moving in the room at the time of the door opening. Room 1 up- Team 2 recorded a strong EMF reading in the closet. Tim felt sick by the fireplace, he thought he was going to become physically ill. Later in the investigation, Tim returned to this room. He again felt sick but the feeling was not as intense. Room 3 up- Team 1 reported meter readings in the space behind the closet. Room 4 up- Team 1 reported an EMF reading above the bed. Room 5 up- Team 2 reported 2 EMF readings. Tim "tracked" a presence in the room with his EMF meter. Kevin and Tim heard a "ticking" sound coming from this room but were unable to locate the source of the noise. Room 6 up- Michele saw a "dark spot" by the closet and sensed a presence when Ben was asking questions for EVPs. Both teams reported EMF readings throughout this room. Tim felt a chill and the hair on the back of his neck raised. Two minutes later, Tim got chills again and Laurie's camera died. Room 7 up- Michele's camera took a picture by itself and Team 1 reported the sound of handles on a piece of furniture tapping. Room 8 up- Both Tim and Ed recorded EMF readings at the top of the stairs. Stairs- Kevin and Tim smelled "roses" as they were coming down the stairs. At the same time, another team at the bottom of the stairs was investigating a "rose" odor.

Historic Ghost Watch and Investigation Pearle’s House June 11, 2005 Team 1: David, Michele, Ben Time of Event Phenomena Witnessed Location 9:13pm Investigation Begins Downstairs - Office 9:14pm Team reports a EMF meter reading of 3.0 to 4.0 from the bottom of the stairs to the top. Stairs 9:14pm Team enters the bedroom at the top of the stairs to the right. Hereafter referred to as Room 4 Up. Room 4 Up 9:18pm Base: Kevin hears two "door slams" coming from the kitchen area of the home. Base 9:24pm Team reports meter readings inside the hidden room or attic space through the closet in the bedroom. Hereafter referred to as Room 3 Up. Room 3 Up 9:29pm David reports that he is getting a EMF reading of 3.0 to 7.0 above the center of the bed. Room 4 Up 9:33pm Team enters the last bedroom on the right side of the home. Hereafter referred to as Room 5 Up. Room 5 Up 9:44pm Team enters bedroom Master Bedroom. Bedroom is the last bedroom on the left side of the home. Hereafter referred to as Room 6 Up. Room 6 Up 9:44pm Michele saw a "drak spot" by the closet in the left corner of the room as they entered. Room 6 Up 9:45pm David reports that they are getting a EMF reading of 2.0 throughout the entire room. Room 6 Up 9:46pm David reports that he heard a "Shrill" from downstairs. No sound was observed downstairs. Room 6 Up 9:47pm Michele senses a presence as Ben asked questions for audio recorder. Questions are an attempt to record any EVP activity. Room 6 Up 9:48pm Team enters the sitting area located between Room 6 Up and Room 5 Up. Hereafter referred to as Room 7 Up. Room 7 Up 9:49pm Michele’s camera fires by itself. Room 7 Up 9:50pm Team reports the sound of what sounds like the handles on a piece of furniture tapping. Room 7 Up 9:51pm Sound the team reported could have been the sound of kids in Room 5 Up playing a video game. Room 5 Up 9:54pm Michele feels drawn to re-enter Room 4 Up at which time she reports that she thought she heard a voice. Room 4 Up 10:11pm Team completes upstairs investigation. Downstairs - Office   Historic Ghost Watch and Investigation Pearle’s House June 11, 2005 Team 2: Laurie, Tim, Ed Time of Event Phenomena Witnessed Location 9:13pm Investigation Begins Downstairs - Office 9:14pm Team enters the Den. Team reports that they are getting am EMF meter reading on two meters in front of the sofa at the left side of the room. The Den is hereafter referred to as Room 1. Room 1 9:17pm Laurie reported that they were getting a EMF meter reading at the "wing" chair by the fireplace. Moments later the reading now gone. Room 1 9:22pm Team enters the parlor. The parlor is hereafter referred to as Room 3. Room 3 9:26pm Team reports a EMF reading at the couch. Room 3 9:29pm Laurie reported that they are getting a EMF reading of 4.0 at the piano. Room 3 9:29pm Team enters the dinning room hereafter referred to as Room 4. Room 4 9:29pm Laurie reports that they are getting a EMF reading of 3.0 at the fireplace. Room 4 9:33pm Team gets an EMF reading of 5.0 at the chest (may be a humidor) between the Butlers Pantry and the Kitchen. Room 4 9:34pm Team hears a "pop" noise in the doorway going into the butler’s pantry by the china cabinet. Room 4 9:36pm Laurie reports a EMF meter reading of 3.0 at the table closest to the Hall. Room 4 9:38pm  9:40pm Tim and Ed are getting EMF meter readings at the dining room table on the end closest to the hallway. Tim got a 4.0 on his cell-sensor and Ed got a reading of 1.5-2.0 on his electrosensor. Room 4 9:42pm Team enters the pantry hereafter referred to as Room 6. Room 6 9:43pm Team gets a EMF reading of 6.0 at the pantry on the left hand side of the room. Room 6 9:45pm Team enters Kitchen hereafter referred to as Room 7. Room 7 9:46pm Tim felt a cold spot at the end of the counter on right hand side of the kitchen. Laurie verified the cold spot. Room 7 9:48pm Team found a vent blowing cold air but the vent is on the wrong side of the room to explain the cold spot. Room 7 9:55pm Team enters the bathroom hereafter referred to as Room 10. Room 10 9:57pm The Cabinet door opened beside Tim. Team noted that no team member was moving at the time of the door opening. Room 10 9:59om Team enters the hallway hereafter referred to as Room 9. Room 9 9:59pm Tim heard the "tingling" of a small bell by the office. Note that the office is where our base was set up. No one at base heard any noise. Room 9 10:02pm Tim hears "footsteps" behind him coming from the area of the dining room door. Room 9 10:02pm Team records a EMF reading of 4.0 in the area of the footsteps. Room 9 10:11pm Team completes the downstairs investigation. David informs Kevin that they are not getting any documental evidence. The number of people that are now in the home is also making it impossible for Michele to focus. Kevin cleared the lower part of the home and told Michele to sit somewhere quiet, relax, and get in her proper mind set. Room 4 11:35pm Michele reports that she feels that the spirit is or was feeling like she was being torn apart. She said that she felt an intense feeling of apprehension and anxiety. Room 4 11:45pm Michele feel a light touch on the right side of her head. Room 1 11:46pm Michele hears a female voice saying "I don’t wanna die" Room 1 11:50pm Michele feels a feeling of restlessness between dining room and parlor. Room 3 12:00am Investigation ends. Downstairs - Office Possible Debunk It was later discovered that David has accidently used two different type of batteries in his camera which may account for his camera dying so rapidly.   Historic Ghost Watch and Investigation Pearle’s House June 11, 2005 Team 2: Laurie, Tim, Ed Time of Event Phenomena Witnessed Location 11:00pm Investigation Begins Downstairs - Office 11:05pm Team enters master bedroom hereafter referred to as Room 6 Up. Room 6 Up 11:07pm Tim gets an EMF meter reading of 8.0 as the team entered the room. Room 6 Up 11:08pm Tim reports an EMF reading of 7.0 between the fireplace and the bed. Room 6 Up 11:09pm Tim reports that he got chills and the hair on the back of his neck raise. Room 6 Up 11:11pm Laurie’s camera dies and Tim got chills again. The chills were reported to happen at the same time that Laurie’s camera died. Room 6 Up 11:14pm Team enters bedroom across from master bedroom, hereafter referred to as Room 5 Up. Room 5 Up 11:16pm Tim gets an EMF meter reading of 6.0 just inside the door. Room 5 Up 11:16pm Ed reports an EMF meter reading of 1.0 to 2.0 Room 5 Up 11:18pm Tim gets an EMF reading of 5.0, he feels he is able to "track a presence" in the room. Room 5 Up 11:20pm Team enters the bedroom at the top of the stairs to the left of the staircase. Hereafter referred to as Room 4 Up. Room 4 Up 11:25pm Team enters the bedroom at the back of the home on the right of the staircase. Hereafter referred to as Room 2 Up. Room 2 Up 11:26pm Laurie reports that both Tim and Ed are getting EMF reading from 2.0 to 5.0 at the top of the stairs. This area is hereafter referred to as Room 8 Up. Room 8 Up 11:28pm The team entered the bedroom at the top of the stairs to the right of the staircase. Tim reports a "sick feeling" like he was "about to throw up" by the fireplace. This room is hereafter referred to as Room 1 Up. Room 1 Up 11:29pm Team got a strong EMF meter read of 10.0 in the closet. The reading then stopped. Room 1 Up 12:00am Investigation ends. Downstairs - Office   Historic Ghost Watch and Investigation Pearle’s House June 11, 2005 Video Team: Kevin, Tim Time of Event Phenomena Witnessed Location 12:38am Investigation Begins Downstairs - Office 12:38am Tim reports feeling a cold chill in the dining room. Room 4 12:39am Pantry door was found to be open. This door was known to be closed before the investigation, but was not under constant observation. Room 6 12:39am Team enters kitchen. Room 7 12:40am Team hears a whisper come from the den or foyer area. The whisper sounded male. Room 6 12:44am Team enters the den. Both Kevin and Tim immediately reported feeling "odd". Kevin reports that they had heard a "pop" but Kevin felt it came from Tim’s location at the back of the room while Tim felt it came from Kevin’s location at the front of the room. Room 1 12:45am Both team members report "bad chills". Kevin reports seeing a "figure standing in the doorframe" closest to the stairs. He also reported that the figure may have been caused by the infrared camera and Tim’s flash. Team ruled out the possibility that the figure could have been caused by the mirror across the hall. Room 1 12:49am Tim reported feeling sick in the room on the right at the top of the stairs. Tim also stated that this time it was not as intense. Room 1 Up 12:59am Entered master bedroom. Room 6 Up 1:00am Team reports hearing a "ticking" noise coming from the room across the hall. Room 6 Up 1:02am Team found no source of the noise. Room 5 UP 1:10am Both Kevin and Tim report smelling "roses" as they were coming down the stairs. A team at the bottom of the stairs was also investigating a "rose" smell. Our Conclusion
	There was a great deal of activity to be found in the home during the time we were there. We captured numerous Electronic Voice Phenomena or EVPs throughout the home, and recorded a significant amount of electromagnetic activity. It is Historic Ghost Watch and Investigation's belief that the home is very paranormally active but we can not prove a haunting at this time.
