What a beautiful restaurant, or should I say what a beautiful home.  Located in Buckhead, this beautiful restaurant is a wonderful chance to visit a home that is one of the last of its kind in Atlanta.  Here surrounded in history you find some of the best food in the city and also have a chance to meet a hostess from long ago. While in the presence of this home you find yourself in an other era, somehow, all of the hustle and bustle of today seems forgotten long ago. The home was originally built in 1797 on a plantation in Washington, Georgia where it was spared the flame that claimed so much of the south's history. It remained a private home into the early 1900's but by the 1960's the house had sat unused for many years. In 1963 the house caught the eye of an engineer, who had it moved brick by brick to its present location. The move took 3 years to complete due to the attention to detail but the final result was truly worth the wait. Today, you will find the grounds complete with the original smoke house, well house and root cellar as well as a wine cellar that was added 10 years later. If you look closely, however, you may also find something else original to the home. It is believed by many that the home's last hostess, Annabelle, still walks these halls. We felt we needed to find out, for if those visiting this restaurant are still the guests of "Lady Bug" then we may need to let her know that she still has a truly beautiful home.

Historic Ghost Watch and Investigation   Anthony's Fine Dining, Atlanta Georgia September 17th, 2005   Team 1: David, Kimber & Susie Team 2: Ed, Laurie, Elizabeth, Melanie & Michele Base: Ben, Mark, Kevin   Investigation Report     Upstairs West Room - Michele saw a moving light on railing outside of room, noone was in the area and noone else witnessed the event.  Ed requested that anyone present make either the meters or the cameras go off, one team members camera died. East Room - Movement was heard at the door near the fireplace, Michele sensed a presence move from this room into another room. Attic - Michele and Laurie heard a growl at the top of the stairs. Michele also felt something was significant about that area but closer to the window.  Ed & Melanie reported EMF readings at the area at the top of the stairs.  This was felt to be most likely due to electrical wiring. Floor of attic was reported to feel like it was vibrating, this was debunked as the air conditioner making it vibrate.   Downstairs Ladies restroom - Sounds were heard several times in one of the stalls in the restroom. Nothing was seen and all team members were accounted for. Dining Room - No phenomena was witness or recorded. Kitchen - No phenomena was witness or recorded Root Cellar - EMF reading was recorded as soon as team entered the door and again 10 feet further down the wall. Wine Cellar - A shadow was seen on the stairs and entire team heard movement at one of the tables. All team members were accounted for and none had moved at the time.

See Sensitive Report for details. 1:18 am Full Investigation Begins. Upstairs 1:32 am After Ed asked "If there are any spirits present, make our meters or camera's go off", Laurie's camera died. West Room 1:35 am While Michele was standing in doorway she witnessed a moving light by the railing in the upstairs hallway. Although Kevin was in East Room, he was not facing in her direction so he could not verify her report. West Room Upstairs 1:41 am Team was in hallway when they heard movement coming from the recessed door by the fireplace. East Room 1:52 am Michele felt a presence move through the door of the East Room to the Gold Room. East Room 2:05 am While standing next to the stacked chairs at the top of the stairs Michele & Laurie heard a guttural growl at roughly the same Time. Attic 2:05 am Ed & Melanie report steady EMF readings at the top of the steps. They also noted that it was probably electrical. Attic 2:10 am Michele feels something significant by the window at the top of the stairs near storage. Attic 2:15 am While standing outside of the ladies room, Michele hears movement Coming from stalls area. Ladies Room *****Debunk***** Team moving upstairs 2:19 am Big noise heard in bathroom. Noise was also recorded on digital video recorder at base. Ladies Room *****Debunk***** Air Freshener sprays on a fixed schedule. The pattern of the air freshener spray helped us eliminate all sounds in the ladies room but one. The noise sounded like someone looking for something in the rest room. The sound was recorded between the sprays and while all team members were accounted for. 2:23 am Michele & Laurie, while standing outside of ladies room stalls, heard movement coming from stall where web cam is recording. Ladies Room 3:25 am Team enters Dining Room. Dining Room 3:35 am No phenomena reported. Dining Room 3:36 am Team enters Kitchen. Kitchen 3:45 am No phenomena reported. Kitchen 3:44 am Team 1, while debunking the attic, reports the whole floor of attic feels like it is vibrating. Attic *****Debunk***** Air conditioning was causing floor vibration. 3:46 am Team enters Root Cellar. Root Cellar 3:47 am Ed gets a EMF reading after entering trough the door. Root Cellar 3:49 am Ed gets another EMF reading 10 feet down the wall. Melanie reports EMF reading also to 2nd light of ELF. Root Cellar 3:53 am Team enters Wine Cellar. Wine Cellar 3:55 am Shadow witnessed on stairs. Wine Cellar 3:57 am Whole team hears sound of something moving on 1st table to the left upon entry of cellar. Wine Cellar 4:15 am Investigation Ends Upstairs 4:30 am Teams beds down to sleep in upstairs of restaurant. Upstairs 8:00 am No activity was recorded Upstairs

Our Conclusion

Despite the large number of EVPs collected and some personal experiences by some of our investigators, we did not record a large amount of paranormal activity through scientific means.  We do not, however, feel that this mean that the location is not haunted.  We simply do not, as yet, have the evidence needed to prove that Anthony's is haunted.  We look forward to a follow up investigation in the near future.  We wish to thank the management and staff of Anthony's for allowing us the opportunity to investigate such a beautiful location.
