Soldier’s Cemetery EVP

Soldier’s Cemetery

Ed captured this incredible EVP on our first investigations of the Soldier’s Cemetery. We felt that what Ed recorded seemed to sound like a Native American voice. We set out to find a answer and after some hard work for some of our investigators we found that we were correct. We have had this EVP listened to by two different translators who both said that the dialect is an old Creek Indian language and they both were able to translate it for us.

During one of our sweeps of the cemetery the sensitive on Ed’s team began feeling uncomfortable. We pulled to team out and asked them if they wanted to go back in and of course they did, so we replaced the sensitive with one from the other team and sent them back in. It was at this point we recorded a voice asking us why we came back after we had said we were leaving, saying roughly “I thought you said you where leaving”. This is also one of the clearest EVP’s we’ve ever recorded.

What is a Ghost?

What Is a Ghost?

I think this question has to be the single most asked question I get, followed closely by “how do I know it isn’t a demon?” or “Isn’t it a demon since it isn’t in heaven or because it’s away from God?”  All are great questions and are actually more similar than you would think at first. But, to start this explanation let me establish a really simple ground rule.  A ghost is a ghost and a demon is a demon.  Demons never were human or even “alive” and by alive I refer to life as we know it as living beings on this earth.  Demons started off in whatever state we call the “afterlife” and were never born to this world. But this is a topic for another post.  I am also not going to get into Heaven and Hell, and judgement in this post because here I am addressing the Ghost, not where it goes after dying, depending on how it lived it’s life.

So, What is a ghost?

Ghosts are simply you and me, our fathers and mothers, sons, daughters and grandparents.  They are people that for whatever reason haven’t quite moved on yet.  In my belief I know that they will, at some point, move on to heaven.  I believe that for the vast majority of us the transition takes place quickly if not instantaneously. I think we are off to join loved ones without much thought and probably little choice. But, for some the process doesn’t happen like it does for most of us and for whatever reason when they die it isn’t automatic.  They may see the “light” or whatever conduit is there to help us move on but now, faced with a choice, they aren’t quite ready to go through it.  Maybe, for some, they are afraid to go through it because in their eyes, it shouldn’t be here and through it means judgement or the God that shouldn’t exist.

Some may be hesitant to leave because of love. Think for a minute about that little old couple we’ve all seen walking down the sidewalk or through the mall.  They walk hand in hand as they have for 70 years until one day, he passes away.  Now, remember that sometimes it isn’t automatic and he finds himself standing there knowing he should go on to heaven but he wants to wait on her so they can go through together.  In terms of eternity time isn’t time like we know it and years flash by in the blink of an eye.  He still waits for his wife to join him unaware that she passed years ago and she’s now waiting on him in heaven.  Hundreds of years go by as people talk about seeing the ghost of an old man in a now haunted house.  Does this make him evil or a demon or simply a sweet old man looking for his wife?

What about freewill?  As awful a thought of a child dying is, let’s consider another scenario where I can touch base on both free will and another frequently asked question. When I am talking to people it’s about now that I get asked “what about children?” and “how can God leave behind a child?”.  The answer is simple…  He Doesn’t!  Take the ghost of a little boy that passed and again, like above, he doesn’t move on to heaven right away.  He sees the light and maybe even sees his “Nanna” standing in it calling him to come and go with her to heaven.  But… there’s that apple tree he always wanted to play on but was never allowed.  He’s a kid after all and just like when he was alive he still has freewill, so off he runs to the tree.  He plays for just a little bit but he leaves us talking for years about the haunted, creepy giggles of a child out by the old gnarled apple tree. Is this ghost something scary?

You can argue that both of these people or ghosts are away from God, but I would have to ask “Are they really?” and if they are “How long are they away from God?”.   A blink of an eye?  Hundreds of years may be a long time here but I’m not about to think I understand God’s timeframe.  In these cases, I believe God simply tells those waiting on them in heaven, “Don’t worry… They’ll be here in a second.”.

I have to think that the saddest part to these ghost stories would be when we as investigators forget who they are and burst into the home or storm the apple tree calling them names or taunting them in ways we would never do to their faces were they alive.

So, What is a ghost?
Simply put, a ghost is someone that hasn’t moved on yet.   Let’s make sure we aren’t forgetting the “someone” part.

Scarlett O’Hara’s EVP?

DSCN1561During our investigation of Scarlett O’Hara’s in St Augustine, Florida Paul captured this EVP that wasn’t an EVP.   What we captured in this clip is Almost the creepiest sound we have ever caught.  If you feel like you aren’t quite getting the entire picture just listen, this clip is fairly pretty self explanatory… and there’s a reason it made the blooper reel.

This clip shows the importance of owning up to some of the crazy sounds our bodies can make. I love Paul’s reaction when learning the True origin of the noise.

Three Bears Investigation – Audio

If three-bears-cafe-marietta-square-ga-atlantayou hang around with us long enough and get us talking about some of our best investigations the story of Three Bears will certainly come up.  This story is also featured on one of the Marietta Squares’ walking ghost tours.  We were on the upper floor in the hallway between the front of the building and the projection room that faces toward the back of the main room below.  Tim and Kevin were smelling roses or a rose smelling perfume as they started encountering a cold spot that would move between the investigators.  In the clip below you can hear us as we discover that the cold spot also had high EMF readings.  Wherever we would feel the cold spot we could put an EMF meter into it and the reading would jump from our baseline of 0.6 to as much as 4.3, on the clip below, and as high as 5.6 before we lost the cold spot.  As we were trying to de-bunk the high meter readings we got with the cold spot we started checking in the small area just off the hall but beside where we caught the high EMF. We wanted to make sure that we weren’t picking up the high EMF near the wall of this area.  Tim stepped past us and into the room at the end of this small area, as he did the door slammed behind him.  This is captured on the second clip below.

Clip One:
The cold spot encounter with EMF Readings.

Clip Two:
The de-bunking EMF reading when door slams.
*WARNING* This clip does contain a cuss word as the slamming door catches Tim off guard.

Northeast Georgia Plantation EVP

03-18-06 012
Elizabeth recorded these Two EVP’s during our first investigation of this plantation in Northeast Georgia.  In this recording Elizabeth is wearing headphones and was actually able to hear the first voice as she recorded it.  The Evp’s are very faint and the first one can be heard right as the recording starts and way before you hear Elizabeth start talking.  Michele asks what she is referring to when they both heard an answer.  Although these are very faint once you hear them and realize that because of being able to hear an EVP as it was recorded we were able to get a response.  These are really cool.

In this recording they actually tell you what to listen for. The first EVP says “I’m Guilty” and the second says “me”. The Second is VERY hard to hear but you can hear it just before Ed starts to respond too and there may be a third “me” at the end of Ed talking (between the two times Michele asks “who said me?”)

A request to make donations to HGWI

The other night as I was meeting with people at House on Horror Hill I was talking about how we do everything we do without ever charging the people we are trying to help.  The conversation continued across how we investigate, EVP’s, past and future investigations and how excited we are to finally be able to investigate The Willard Library in Evansville, Indiana after a 9 year wait.  I told them how this location was the sole reason they were sitting in HGWI’s base trailer that night.  I explained that because of me studying the library I decided to start my own group and that soon HGWI was born.  I talked about how we were going to be doing a fund raiser here and there to help with the money to take the trip. It was at this point that one of the guests asked “So you guys travel all the time to help people but never ask for money?  And now, you are going to do your dream investigation…  How can we help and donate some money?”  I was honestly floored!  I covered up my surprise with a quick joke of “There will be button on the site tomorrow” but inside I was truly touched.  Someone offering to help us out of the goodness of their hearts and today, as I type this, I realize if this is how families we try to help feel then I am truly blessed.  I will honor these individuals request for a button so people can help us out with the expenses of our travels, and so some of you can help us with this amazing opportunity to finally investigate somewhere that is personally so special to me.  Check out the “Help HGWI” page if you’d like to help.

House on Horror Hill EVP

12088201_901930526567191_4542517945072976910_nThis EVP was recorded during our investigation of the House on Horror Hill in Alpharetta, GA.  The story behind this EVP and investigation that night is an interesting one.  This investigation was put together last minute because of the activity that was encountered during the house being open as a haunted house.  Several groups of guests came to us to report seeing a dark figure in one of our rooms.  It was when the actors in that room also starting reporting activity that we decided to put together an investigation after the house closed.   This EVP was captured at the end of our investigation and it was actually recorded on three of the teams recorders.

On this EVP we hear “Who’s the Bitch”. What makes this EVP such an interesting one is how loud it is and that it sounds as loud and as clear as the other voices in the room. None of the investigators heard anything at the time this was recorded and if someone on the team yelled “who’s the Bitch” there would have been some type of reaction from other team members.

To hear more about this EVP and the investigation on which it was recorded please come by the House on Horror Hill during the weekends of October. We usually have our base unit set up in front of the house. This give us the perfect location to meet with the public and talk about investigations, play EVP’s and answer questions. This investigation is almost always a part of that discussion.

The Pirate’s House EVP

EVP saying "Go Home"

People always ask me if we ever record voices saying our names and how it feels when you hear that. This EVP was captured by Ed during our investigation of The Pirate’s House in Savannah, GA and it happens to be one of the ones that says my name. I have to admit it’s both kind of cool and a little freaky to hear your name being said by something we can’t see. It also helps show that the haunting is more than likely an intelligent haunting instead of something residual.
This recording is little bit longer and runs about 5 seconds with the EVP starting just past 3 seconds.

We hear my name… “Kevin”

Hell’s Church #1 – 2 EVP’s

EVP saying "Go Home"

Laurie captured these two EVPs during our investigation of Hell’s Church.  The first was recorded as her team was investigating the pavilion behind the Church. It was at the back of this pavilion that several members her team had very uneasy feelings and felt that they were being watched. It’s interesting to note that when we compared the investigation logs from both teams we found that they had both noted similar feelings in the same location.  It is in this location that Laurie recorded this EVP.

We hear “turn around and get back!” This EVP starts just after Michele says “not that I…”.

[collapse]

Laurie captured the second EVP as both teams were walking back to the pavilion at Hell’s Church to get more readings. They were discussing the fact that both teams had gotten uneasy feelings in that area and laughing about it. Obviously, someone felt that we did not heed his prior warning. Listen just after the laugh.

We hear “I Warned You!” This EVP starts just after the laughing.

Museum in Marietta, EVP

MariettaSquareforWeb5We recorded this EVP during an investigation of one of the museums on the Marietta Square.  This particular museum wishes to remain nameless and we will always respect that.  We do have permission to release findings so long as they don’t contradict the agreement we have.

On the night of this investigation we investigated using two teams, the first team was made up of three investigators, all male, and once their sweep was complete the second team entered the building.  The second team had one female on it and was conducted by our Director and Assistant Director.  The EVP you are about to hear was captured by the second team.

We hear “la gringa” which in Spanish for American or White Female
